An electric fence/ post device for a cat?

Is there such a thing like a post that we can plant in the garden and if the cat goes a certain distance from it get shocked and repeatadly shocked until it comes back? Why I ask is that we just found a deaf kitten but we live near a major road and do not want a deaf cat wandering out onto it. Electric fences do not work for cats, I’ve heard, because they move too fast over them and the shock is minimal. But if a post is set up and the cat wanders beyond the post, it will get shocked. Is there any such device and if so can you provide a link?

There is not such a thing to my knowledge. Even a small shock with a cat could really hurt them. My uncle had a 15lbs dog and put in a shock type fence and to test it he of course put it on the lowest setting and it burned a hole in to the dogs neck where the collar was. I think the are really cruel. If you cannot spare the living space for the kitten to be inside with you, then you really really need to consider sending him/her the spca where they can find a suitable home them that can better care for the needs of a deaf cat.
