Achieving Your Degree Online Is Easier With Financial Aid In New Mexico
Like a few states in the U.S., New Mexico uses a state lottery to help finance its state schools and scholarships. In combination with private organizations that also provide scholarships to enhance the community, New Mexico is doing a lot to help students pay for their education.
The primary scholarship the state offers is the New Mexico Scholars Program. It is open to students who graduate in the top five percent of their senior class and also score at least a 25 on their ACT. If they then decide to go to an in-state college, the scholarship will pay their entire tuition, fees and text books. They must also be under 21 to apply.
From there, there’s also the Karcher’s Founders Scholarship. It can be used towards any two- to four-year academic program or accredited school in New Mexico. The standards are fairly much the same as the Scholars Program, only the reward here is up to $1,000. Take advantage of the information about scholarships online and you should also take this opportunity to look into accredited online colleges to know your options.
For minorities, New Mexico offers two rather unique programs. The first is the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation Scholarship. It is open to all students of at least 25% Native or Alaskan American heritage. Besides proof of heritage, students must also graduate from a New Mexico high school with at least a 2.5 GPA or better. They must also fill out a FAFSA form. For their efforts, they can receive a scholarship up to $2,500 a year.
State-sponsored fellowship programs are fairly rare. Such plans for minorities are even harder to find. The Minority Doctorate Assistance Program is open to those of black, Asian, Latin or other descent who already have their four-year degree and plan to go on for their Ph.D. It provides awards based both on the costs of the program and the applicant’s personal finances and is also open to any college in the U.S. It can go as high as one’s complete tuition.
A military veteran also can find funding in New Mexico if he or she is going for a Ph.D. The Veterans Service Commission/ Vietnam Veteran’s Scholarship is administered through the state’s Veteran’s Administration. Based on pretty much the same criteria as the Minority Doctorate plan, it can provide as much as a student’s complete tuition and fees. Researching educational scholarships will help to prepare you for the challenges college has to offer.
The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute Scholarship is a program that goes up and down the West Coast, wherever there is mining as a key industry. It is open to college students in their junior and senior years. It will pay for any mining-related field, from metallurgy to mechanical engineering. Besides an academic transcript, applicants must go to a school that is recognized by the Institute. Another unique program is the ACF New Mexico Manufactured Housing Scholarship. It will provide a $1,000 scholarship if you grew up in a pre-manufactured home and left high school with a 3.0 grade average.
Of course, no student should forget federal programs like the Pell. Still, thanks to the state lottery, a New Mexican can have their tuition completely covered. That’s better than picking the right numbers. Taking the time to research online certificate programs and the many programs that are available can help to make college more affordable.

In Maryland, they are called Maryland basins (Rasmussen and Slaughter 1955).Other landform depressions, not widely accepted as Carolina bays, are found within the northern Gulf of Mexico coastal plain within southeast Mississippi and Alabama where they are known as either Grady ponds or Citronelle ponds (Otvos 1976, Folkerts 1997).
